Trump Invites Families of Injured Guard Personnel to White House

President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that he has invited the loved ones of a National Guard member tragically killed last week to visit the White House.

He noted that he conversed with her parents and they were “heartbroken”.

Information on the Heartbreaking Shooting

US army specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a shooting on Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her comrade, Andrew Wolfe, 24, remains hospitalized in grave state.

Memorials across West Virginia have taken place in their memory.

White House Offer

The commander-in-chief said he’s proposed a White House visit for the loved ones of both individuals of the West Virginia National Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a hard experience, visit the White House. We’re going to recognize her,” the president addressed reporters. “And similarly with Andrew, recover or not.”

Public Response

Attendees assembled over the weekend at a local school in the state to honor Beckstrom.

Both the soldiers had been fulfilling duties with the military unit as part of Trump’s federal initiative to assist law enforcement in DC.

Paying Tribute to the Soldier

“Sarah was the type of pupil that educators desired. She carried herself with inner fortitude, a contagious smile and a positive energy that inspired those around her,” Hankins, the leader of her previous school, stated to the media. “She was sweet, caring and always ready to support those in need.”

Memorial details for Sarah are yet to be finalized.

Legal Actions and Government Changes

Authorities have indicted a twenty-nine-year-old suspect with a charge of murder and two counts of violent assault while carrying a weapon.

The tragedy led the government to pause asylum processing and cease providing entry permits to holders of Afghan passports.

Status of the Airman

Andrew Wolfe, a resident of the city, began his service in early 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman High, per the news agency.

He continues to receive treatment and is “fighting for his life”, West Virginia leader the governor mentioned on a news program.

Attorney general Bondi informed Fox News Sunday that she planned to visit the family.

Memory of Beckstrom

Beckstrom, from her hometown, completed her education from Webster County High in mid-2023 and began her service not long after, serving as a MP with distinction, according to the West Virginia National Guard.

“She had a lot of compassion and she definitely had fortitude,” Morrisey informed the crowd at the service. “Though her time lasted far too short, she has created a legacy that’s going to endure.”
