Triple NBA Most Valuable Player Jokic sustained a "gut-wrenching" knee injury while the Nuggets lost by a score of 147-123 at the Miami Heat.

The Serbian center injured himself towards the end of the second quarter following an unintentional contact with teammate Jones.

His teammate came down on the foot of the MVP, who promptly collapsed to the floor holding his leg.

The veteran player, that is leading the NBA this season in rebounds and dimes, recorded 21 points and eight dimes in the matchup prior to sustaining the injury.

The player is scheduled for an scan on Tuesday to assess the extent of the injury.

"Right away, Jokic understood there was a problem," commented Denver head coach Adelman.

"Injuries are part of the game. Anyone that suffers an injury, it's difficult, most notably somebody as special as he is. We'll find out more tomorrow."

"The team will adjust as a team. Obviously, at this moment, I am focused just about him personally and the frustration of facing something of that nature."
