Slot Asserts He Is Secure and Retains The Club's Backing Following PSV Loss

Arne Slot conceded that it was natural for questions to be raised about his future following a further convincing defeat versus the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their ninth defeat in twelve games, representing the club's worst streak after being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie champions on a tough evening at their home ground.

“I'm confident, I'm fine, I have got a lot of backing from management,” Slot commented.

“It's important to reverse this trend and secure a win naturally but if you are working as a coach and not doing well then it's typical that people question you.”

He continued, “I'm comfortable with my position. This isn't the first time I’ve been in a tough spot but it's necessary that we changed our fortunes.”

Talks with Club Management

Upon being questioned to expand on his conversations with the team officials, Slot revealed:

“There's regular dialogue. They are supportive for the squad and to me and we have those conversations but they don’t call me all the time of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He mentioned, “Through standard exchanges I perceive the trust. But I've not talked to them since this game yet so it remains to be seen.”

Recurring Issues and Squad Reaction

Slot highlighted recurring weaknesses from his squad in their European loss, specifically poor finishing and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was blunter in his evaluation of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the answers. Frankly, I don’t. I’m saying that to all,” Jones remarked.

“It’s just unacceptable. I don't need to wait to reflect. I’m past being angry internally. I’m at the point now where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He added, “It's tough because I’m playing for the side I follow. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen this club all my life.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team enduring a phase like this with performances this poor.”

He stated, “But we continue to wear that badge on our shirts. And as long as it is gone, we'll continue to battle.”

“Our aim is to bring this squad return to where it needs to be, show everyone once more the values of this club and why it's known as the top club in the world.”

“But right now, we're in trouble and we have to turn it around.”
